For me this film, 12 Years a Slave was one that I wanted to
watch for a while. After watching it, it was greater than what I expected. The
story in a nutshell was about Solomon Northup, a free black man in 1840s who
was sold into slavery. The film shows this journey from being free to becoming
a slave to being free again. In my view,
the all-star cast were all really well suited to their roles. This story was
adapted to film and was also true story of Solomon Northup. This book was
originally published in 1853.
12 Years of Slave has won numerous awards, deservedly so;

From this film, I learnt a lot about slavery in the past, and this has
made my want to read the book to gain more in-depth knowledge from the Solomon
Northup, himself. I think this film should be used in school across the world
as a tool to help other learn about the slavery in America at that time.
